The rates of myopia worldwide are rising with the impact on the individual being inconvenience and quality of life followed by pathological complications that may occur as the level of myopia increases, this fact is definitely a reason for concern not only to the individual but the profession as a whole.

Subsequently there has been a lot of research and work done around controlling and slowing down the progression of myopia. At the Eye Place we've taken a considerable amount of time to investigate the various methods of myopia control that are available at present.

We understand that myopia control isn't guaranteed however the results behind orthokeratology are very favourable. Crudely, the way orthokeratology works is by reshaping the cornea, modifying the impact of the light rays on the back of the eye thus slowing the growth of the length of the eye, thereby slowing the rate myopic progression.
