Belsize Park

Sketch of a branch

The Eye Place, Belsize Park, London

We have traced our practice heritage at 153 Haverstock Hill to it's origin in the 1950's with a Mr Botten, a gentleman Optician, who started the business when the building was erected. In 1985 it passed through to Andreas Christodolou, another independent optician until his retirement in 2010 when Alex Kemp took over. With a focus on amazing design which starts at the shop door we have some of North London's most beautiful eyewear.

The reviews here speak for themselves, I have never experienced such great, attentive, extremely high quality service at any optician/business. Anaa was my specialist and I had the advanced eye exam done. This was a thorough test with all the latest technology and she also checked my discs for an on going condition I suffer from. All of my questions and concerns were answered with amazing detail. Marcus measured my pupil distances and helped me select the right lenses for my day to day needs. Not only was he also extremely informative about each option but also very pleasant and had me leaving the store with a smile on my face. (Big bonus also for not trying to force all the lens upgrades like other opticians) All in all this is my first google review and for a good reason, because this business truly went above and beyond!

Very friendly and helpful service. I had some issues with my glasses that were bought somewhere else and they helped me immediately without charge. Will be shifting here for my future eye tests

Lovely staff and atmosphere! Sabrina was my optician for the Comprehensive + Eye Exam and she took her time to ensure maximum accuracy and comfort for my prescription. I needed a place that I could trust for the making and fitting of large vintage-style lenses for my rare Dunhill 6068's. Justin was very helpful and patient at explaining the difference between glass types and coatings. In the end, I was a bit skeptical to go with his recommendation of the pricey Japanese Seiko lenses and their premium coating. However, after almost 1 year of constant usage, I have no regrets! I have taken good care of them and followed his advice to wash the lenses with dish-soap. The quality of the scratch resistance coating has really proven its worth. Would highly recommend.

Chose this place because the reviews were good and it lived up to them. I have been wearing glasses for 34 years and have never experienced such good or attentive service. Yes it is a bit more expensive than most places but you don't need to change specs very often, so it's worth investing a bit for something so important, especially if you prescription is a little bit more complicated. And you really do get what you pay for. In many opticians you feel they are just trying to get as many people through the door and make as much money as possible without providing dedicated care and service, or that they are just too busy to focus, even if they do care: not the eye place. I brought my own frames which I bought online and they advised they were the best choice for my needs. I recommend without any reservations.
